New Rhapsody Misleads the Public
I thought it would be worth while to point out how Real.com's recent announcement of their new Rhapsody service is misleading.
You can listen to up to 25 songs for free each month, so that means users who download RealNetworks' new Rhapsody software will get to select the 25 tracks - it could be 25 different songs played once apiece or the same song played 25 times. You cannot burn the songs.
You do not own the 25 songs.
How to Build a Wireless Network - Part 2
I made a trip to San Luis Obispo recently and I was amazed at how easy it was to find open and unprotected Wi-Fi internet access. My trip included a visit to two different friends' apartments and my Apple Powerbook had no trouble finding an open WiFi network at both locations. Sharing your Wi-Fi Internet connection is a very generous act of kindness, but you are responsible for all the actions of your network users. Any illegal act (i.e. spamming, hacking, or pirating) originating from your network might result in civil or criminal prosecution, so it might be wise to keep strangers from your network.
